Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Shopper Marketer will develop customer and channel strategies to enable execution of our category strategy. Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, project planning and leadership skills are essential in this role.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develops and executes shopper marketing strategy that is aligned to the category, brand, product and customer strategy. 
  • Develops customer specific marketing programs that are aligned to the marketing and customers’ strategy 
  • Defines programs, tactics and coordinates the execution across cross-functional teams for displays, promotions, and pricing within established corridors and brand requirements. 
  • Partners with Category Development and Sales teams to develop optimal planogram product mix and shelf layouts based on consumer and shopper insights, category performance and marketing strategy for large accounts. 
  • Suggests strategic and tactical shifts based on marketing metrics and comprehensive understanding of customers, competitors, channels and accounts. 
  • In conjunction with the CBG Consumer/Shopper Insights Center of Excellence, generates and leverages shopper and consumer insights to act as a “voice of the customer” and “voice of the consumer” on all relevant cross-functional teams. 
  • Builds long-term relationships with customer’s marketing departments to influence program adoption. Collaborates with customers in developing and executing marketing programs. Ensures compliance of brand guidelines, pricing corridors, and in-store experience in executing shopper programs. 
  • Manages shopper marketing budget and prioritizes programs based on ROI. Leverages resources to achieve timely completion of project/program deliverables. 
  • Leads internal and external teams in the development and execution of integrated brand and/or product marketing programs, including promotional activities, digital marketing, pricing promotions, and sales/demo materials, in alignment with brand strategies defined by leadership team. 
  • Utilizes data to accurately analyze market performance. Recommends channel or account specific programs or promotions, and proposes adjustments to the mix, including eChannels, based on changes in metrics and channel trends (e.g., purchase behavior, channel/account prioritization, etc.). 
  • KPI: Account Revenue ($), Account Growth (%), Account Profitability ($, %), Account POS Performance ($, %), Share of Wallet at the account ($, volume), Shopper Marketing ROI.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in sales, marketing or category management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA Degree from an accredited institution is preferred 
  • Six Sigma process improvement experience is preferred 
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a shopper or consumer marketing role. 
  • Advanced analytical experience, including work in market trends, gap analysis, opportunity benchmarking, planogram development, space-to-performance projects and P/L analysis. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with one or more related disciplines, such as customer/consumer/shopper insights, channel/product marketing, shopper marketing, business/market development, branding, business analysis, etc. 
  • Demonstrated project management skills 
  • Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills with demonstrated experiences in leading cross-functional teams, managing differing interests and perspectives. 
  • Advanced analytical skills.
