The Social Media Assistant will develop and execute College social media marketing strategies and campaigns, including the daily strategy, content, execution and interaction of College social channels.

The Social Media Assistant will have a deep understanding of the features and functionality of each social platform with the proven ability to increase followings and engagement based on previous experience. He/She will establish a cadence of reporting that informs decisions and strategy, as well as track performance and generate insights. The Social Media Assistant will ensure brand consistency in copy through tone, voice and terminology.

He/She will manage multiple social media publishing calendars, and monitor College social channels for important signals of community interest and concerns via social listening and reputation management.

This non-exempt position will report to the Director, Integrated Communications in the Division of Integrated Communications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create original, high-quality social media content to support College programs, including for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and any future channels; manage multiple social media publishing calendars and handle posting; establish appropriate calendaring and implementation process; work with graphic designers to cultivate images that supports campaign goals and College brand strategy. 
  • Optimize posts to include relevant keywords for search engine optimization; assist with implementation of paid social media campaigns. 
  • Monitor College social channels for important signals of community interest and concerns; share noteworthy or high-impact posts with Division of Integrated Communications leadership; appropriately engage with College social communities; ensure all College social media channels follow set strategy, tone, voice and terminology. 
  • Continuously track success of posts and campaigns, establish cadence of tracking and reporting; develop high-impact results reports to showcase social media efforts, success and engagement. 
  • Research industry innovations and tools; stay on top of the latest trends and platform updates; proactively bring learnings to broader integrated communications team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field from an accredited college or university is required. 
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role is required. 
  • Proficiency with social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) and monitoring services (TweetDeck, Hootsuite, Symplur) required. 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and editing communication skills necessary to effectively interact with all levels of organization. 
  • Strong proofreading skills and ability to write compelling copy. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Must be able to multi-task. 
  • Demonstrated interest in and ability to understand complex healthcare topics. 
  • Display high level of energy and thrive in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload and meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with all division teams and management.
