The Social Media Coordinator at Crown College is responsible for developing, curating, and managing engaging content across the institution’s social media platforms. This role supports the College’s brand promise and mission and as a Christian higher education institution by creating compelling narratives that enhance brand awareness, foster community engagement, drive enrollment and donor support. The Social Media Coordinator will collaborate with internal departments to ensure content aligns with institutional messaging, strategic priorities, and brand identity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Work with the Executive Director of Marketing to develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy to promote Crown College’s brand, programs, events, and initiatives.
  • Create, curate, and schedule content (text, image, video, and multimedia) across the institution’s social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, and emerging channels. 
  • Create, curate, and schedule content for the President’s social media channels.
  • Monitor data, analytics, and engagement metrics to assess effectiveness and optimize content strategy (i.e., reporting through Sprout Social).
  • Community management building by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner, fostering positive engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Social Media Leadership Committee (SMLC) and internal departments (e.g., Enrollment, Admissions, Advancement, Athletics, Academics, HR, IT, Student Development) to ensure consistency, quality, and standards that reflect the College’s values and mission.
  • Provide input and collaborate with outsourced partners to ensure timely, emotive, and effective content is being featured in social media marketing campaigns.
  • Stay informed about best practices, industry trends, and algorithm changes to ensure ongoing innovation and effectiveness.
  • Train, equip, and support student interns, alumni, or ambassadors who contribute to social media initiatives.
  • Ensure all content adheres to Crown College’s brand guidelines and Christian mission.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, and best practices.
  • Excellent written and visual communication skills, with the ability to create engaging and compelling content.
  • Proficiency in content creation tools, including Canva and social media management platforms (i.e., Sprout Social).
  • Familiarity with photography, videography, and basic video editing.
  • Knowledge of social media analytics and reporting tools (Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, Sprout Social Analytics, etc.).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of Crown College’s mission and commitment to Christian higher education.
  • Experience in social media community management and digital marketing strategies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in content creation, community engagement, and analytics-driven decision-making.
  • Knowledge of higher education, nonprofit, or faith-based institutions preferred.

Up to 25 hours per week. 8:00 – 4:30, Monday-Friday, evenings, and weekends as needed.
