The Social Media Coordinator plays a key role in enhancing One Hope United’s (OHU) social media presence and is an integral member of the OHU Advancement team. This role involves creating and implementing digital marketing strategies to inform, advertise, and attract public interest. The Coordinator manages the organization’s social media accounts, monitors comments, and engages with the online community. Reporting to and working closely with the Communications Manager, the Coordinator is crucial in boosting our brand’s visibility and appeal, driving traffic and conversions, and maintaining the brand's reputation through careful monitoring and management of online interactions.

This is a hybrid position, two days in the Chicago downtown office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute a results-driven social media strategy
  • Develop and curate engaging content for social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram stories to maintain audience engagement and brand voice. 
  • Assist in the creation and editing of written, video, and photo content 
  • Schedule social media content using Meltwater Engage, ensuring timely and consistent posts across all platforms 
  • Attend events and produce live social media content 
  • Maintain a unified brand voice across different social media channels 
  • Collaborate with the Advancement team to create a social media calendar 
  • Monitor social media channels for industry trends 
  • Interact with users and respond to social media messages, inquiries, and comments. 
  • Build engagement and online interaction with programmatic partners (Florida, Illinois, National) 
  • Review analytics and create reports on key metrics 
  • Assist in the development and management of social media marketing and influencer marketing strategy 
  • Oversee and optimize paid social media advertising campaigns to maximize their reach and effectiveness 
  • Work closely with all members of the Advancement team to ensure project timelines and goals are produced and met 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Education in journalism, marketing, communications, or graphic/video production is preferred.

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of professional experience. 
  • Experience storytelling with demonstrated results across social media platforms 
  • Expert knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and other social media best practices 
  • Advanced writing skills; ability to identify and craft powerful narratives; ability to develop and communicate key messages to specific audiences 
  • Strong attention to detail, with impeccable grammar and spelling ability 
  • An excellent aesthetic sense; comfort working with graphic designers 
  • Team player with a positive attitude 
  • Experience working with a mission-driven organization 

Other:

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record with One Hope United’s required levels of coverage for auto insurance

Required Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Discretion regarding sensitive and confidential material 
  • Interest in learning the nonprofit sector, fundraising, and donor engagement methods 
  • Familiarity with MS Office
