Position Summary:

The Social Media Manager is responsible for driving USG’s social media strategy. This person will work cross-functionally to understand the stories we have to tell and thoughtfully curate these stories into the right platforms in the appropriate cadence. Ultimately, through social media, this position assists in driving USG’s brand positioning, product recognition, and employee engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for increasing the company’s social media following and engagement, to increase our brand awareness, product recognition, corporate reputation, and employee engagement. 
  • Working closely with aligned departments, help to shape the company’s social media strategy and implement the strategy by working closely with internal stakeholders to curate stories on the right platforms 
  • Seek out, develop, and curate content appropriate to each social media and digital platform including Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, etc. 
  • Plan, post, and maintain engaging content telling the company’s story and confirming our reputation as the industry leader for customers, stakeholders, prospective employees, etc. 
  • Elevate, respond, and resolve customer inquiries and employee questions/concerns raised in social media platforms, working closely with internal departments to ensure consistent responses and effective collaboration. 
  • Monitor activity on social media sites and engage in a positive manner when needed. 
  • Responsible for increasing the company’s social media following and engagement, to ultimately increase our brand awareness and corporate reputation. 
  • Coordinate with various teams, with a focus on Marketing, Corporate Communications, and Talent Management/Human Resources, as well as engaging with the business units as needed. 
  • Report on key social media statistics vs. benchmarks to help optimize engagement across platforms. 
  • Remain knowledgeable about leading social media products.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media, Marketing, Communication or equivalent.

Work Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in relevant role in social media. 2-5 years experience preferred. 
  • Proactive skills in locating and developing content within the company. 
  • Basic working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop + Illustrator). 
  • Proven record of successful previous social media campaigns. 
  • Experience posting content to Twitter, LinkedIn, FaceBook, Instagram, Pinterest. 
  • Experience using social media platform tools like Hootsuite, Sprinklr, Sprout Social. 
  • Ability to analyze customer data and develop actionable insights that will shape a marketing strategy. 
  • Writing experience with email marketing and direct marketing copy; able to massage product content into easy-to-understand benefits. 
  • Maintain brand integrity when collaborating with internal departments.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Excellent project management skills, including effective data gathering, timeline creation, and follow-up with internal teams. 
  • Ability to rapidly learn, internalize and leverage product/campaign information. 
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people and develop strong relationships. Comfortable working with senior management. 
  • Able to multi-task under time constraints, meet deadlines, and work within a fast-paced environment. 
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented and demonstrate an ability to manage multiple projects effectively. 
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Direct communication style. 
  • Self-starter who is resourceful and a team player.
