Social Media Manager

You know how to make social media a strategic part of any marketing mix. You understand the nuances and best practices for existing and emerging social media platforms, from content and publishing to community and influencer engagement. And as an expert, you can guide clients and agency team members to use social media most effectively to reach the goals of the brands you support. That’s why you’re an ideal candidate for Nelson Schmidt’s earned media team and social media practice. Our team members are creative, multi-disciplined and collaborative. You’re not an island, you love a good brainstorm, and you know how to move your work through a multi-disciplinary team of agency experts. You do more than manage content calendars and publishing to social platforms, you define strategies and stay ahead of trends so that you can lead. Of course, you’re precise about tracking and measuring your work because you know great content and social media programs can deliver significant impact. Client’s love working with you because you’re professional, you understand their needs and you deliver great work. That’s why we should meet. We want you to bring your 5+ years of social media experience paired with an understanding of a modern PR practice and excellent verbal, writing, and editing skills to Nelson Schmidt.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Social media program and community management across all platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter (X), TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn.
  • Outstanding writing, editing and publishing skills on all social media platforms.
  • Community management and influencer community development and engagement expertise.
  • Power user of social media monitoring, publishing and analytics tools.
  • Researching topics, developing story ideas and writing across different platforms.
  • Managing project timelines across multiple client accounts and preparing regular program updates and metrics reports for client meetings and calls.
  • All eligible employees are required to work 50%+ of their time each calendar year in our office.

Key Requirements Include:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, communications, marketing or related field.
  • 7+ years of public relations and/or social media experience in either an agency or client marketing organization.
  • Experience in both B2B and B2C product categories.
  • Superb storytelling, writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to grasp complex issues across multiple industries within tight deadlines.
  • Ability to problem solve and seek collaborative solutions.
  • Effective communicator with clients and team members.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Detail oriented, and familiarity with AP style.
  • Team player with “can do” attitude.
  • Sophisticated user of social media platforms, management tools & software.
