Position Summary:

The Social Media Specialist supports the daily management and stewardship of James Hardie’s official social media channels: @JamesHardie on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Pinterest, and more. They are an integral part of the content team, helping to maintain a consistent and relevant presence to James Hardie’s 354K+ followers in North America. As a member of the brand marketing team, their service to the organization casts a wide net to ensure the brand guidelines and social media standards are being upheld.

Responsibilities:

  • Become an expert with engagement and reporting dashboards within the social media monitoring platform Sprinklr 
  • Community management, replying to comments and direct messages in a timely fashion 
  • Drive social media reporting insights and monitor KPIs (brand awareness, engagement rates, follower growth, link clicks, user sentiment, competitive landscape, etc.) 
  • Partner with manager to process a high volume of social media posts, both organic and paid 
  • Assist with the content and creative development process, including the organization of social/video assets, routing and approvals of post proposals, project trackers, team meetings, and more 
  • Liaise with media agencies and other partners for proper execution of social campaigns 
  • Ideate on valuable opportunities within the social landscape that serve business objectives 
  • Support with miscellaneous tasks such as billing, scheduling, agendas, and more.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, media, marketing, advertising or related field with some previous work experience or internship 
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs (Excel, PPT, Word, Outlook)—presentation skills are a plus 
  • Digital savvy & tech friendly—active social media user with strong knowledge base on platform features, trends, brand interactions, industry news and more 
  • Highly detail-oriented, with sharp intuition for copywriting—an ideal candidate works both creatively and analytically, and is process-oriented and thorough 
  • Natural storyteller with ability to interact with all levels of management and employees 
  • Excellent communication skills, both internal and external—must be able to clearly convey escalations and recommend solutions with a sense of urgency 
  • Must be willing to work outside normal working hours, including some nights and weekends 
  • Passion for media/marketing with an eagerness to learn and an entrepreneurial spirit!
