Job Overview

The Specialist, Advertising and Social Media Content role is specifically focused on organic and paid content and creative, which means this role is involved in everything from writing captions and copy for Instagram and Facebook posts to helping storyboard out a script for a video that will play on TV or onboard our aircraft. This is the ideal role for a passionate content creator and copywriter, who has a unique and differentiating point of view on how United can share our story with customers and employees in new, relevant and modern ways.


  • Reporting into the Manager, Advertising and Social Media Content, this role supports in delivering a wide variety of advertising and social media work on a consistent basis 
  • The ability to manage several projects at once, an eye for detail and the desire and skills to communicate and collaborate across departments and with agency and external partners are the keys to your success 
  • Contribute to the conception and development of advertising and social media creative that promotes a wide variety of company initiatives, with a specific focus on content related to various recruitment activities – from social media and advertising that helps the company hire for thousands of jobs it needs to fill in coming years to campaigns related to United Aviate Academy and other pilot pipeline initiatives 
  • Work with subject matter experts across United to ensure accurate messaging and correct photo/video creative 
  • Manage internal and external content approval process, ensuring work is vetted properly by all stakeholders 
  • Support team on video, still and out-of-home production 
  • Attend company events as needed to collect assets that may be published to advertising and social media platforms, occasionally in real-time


  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Social or Digital Media, New Media 
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience 
  • Experience with an agency or in-house with an advertising or social media team 
  • An interest in and general understanding of advertising and social media best practices and terminology 
  • Experience in creating content for a variety of channels – from Instagram Stories to TikTok videos to digital ads 
  • Strong advertising and/or social media copywriting skills 
  • Ability to recognize efficiencies in tweaking content for channel specificity 
  • Keen eye for details 
  • A self-starter who is organized and can manage multiple, competing priorities 
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship 
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification 
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
