The American Academy of Dermatology is seeking a Specialist, Community Program Communications located in our Rosemont, IL office responsible for planning and executing strategic marketing communications plans for the Academy’s community programs including, aimed at demonstrating the impact of dermatologist on community’s health, improving access to care for the underserved, and educating the public about skin health. Utilize communications targeting Academy members, the public, and key stakeholders to drive program engagement and position dermatologists as caring experts.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute annual strategic marketing communications plans that advance the goals and objectives of the AAD’s community programs. Collaborate with program leads to understand needs, objectives, and goals. Define key messages and tactical plans that address objectives for all program stakeholders. Lead cross functional team of MarCom contributors to assure understanding of goals, objectives, and strategy and deliver on time execution of tactical plans. Recommend, track, and monitor associated marcom budgets.
  • Develop content including press releases, pitch letters, web content, advertisements, flyers, event collateral, etc.
  • Collaborate with media relations and social media teams to leverage AAD program messages and stories to support specialty positioning through national and local media strategies in alignment with AAD’s overall consumer positioning strategy.
  • Assure effective communications that drive member engagement with/participation in program and assure understanding of their value in helping position dermatologists as caring and trusted experts seeking the best outcomes for patients.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to execute marcom tactics that drive engagement with programs with key stakeholders in alignment with program goals including, local and national community groups, employer, and union-aligned organizations.
  • Collaborate with community program leads to develop program-related collateral materials and assure alignment with AAD brand and messages.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders on the Academy’s digital team to assure effective user experiences and tracking and measurement of digital campaign components.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, English or Journalism required. Minimum three years of communications experience required. Experience in association culture preferred. 
  • Ability to execute projects under minimal supervision and work effectively and cooperatively with a wide range of internal audiences, including executive staff and member leadership. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Effective client and project management skills. Strong analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize assignments required. 
  • Ability to work independently on various projects.
