Wisconsin State Fair Park is multi-purpose entertainment venue hosting activities, events and meetings throughout the year. Hundreds of events are held at Wisconsin State Fair Park each year, most notably the annual Wisconsin State Fair, presented by U.S. Cellular.

The 11-day Wisconsin State Fair is the state’s largest agriculture showcase, and features 30 FREE entertainment stages, hundreds of food and beverage vendors, endless family activities, events, contests and more. The Fair welcomed a record-breaking 1,030,881 guests in 2014 and the 2015 Fair will mark 164 years of celebrating this tradition.

The Wisconsin State Fair is seeking a Sponsorship Intern for spring and summer 2015. If you have sales, special events and/or administrative experience, as well as a passion for the Wisconsin State Fair, you may be the right person to join our team.

The Wisconsin State Fair Sponsorship team is responsible managing and executing a multi-million dollar sponsorship program, the Official Fair Wear Program, and is involved in the development of collateral materials and sponsor-based promotions.

The Sponsorship Intern will play an important role in many of the above mentioned areas. Including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Assists in administration and database management of 150+ sponsorship contacts including distribution of annual contracts, invoicing for payments and checklist for each individual account 
  • Assist coordinator with ticket orders and distribution for all sponsors and sponsor-related promotions 
  • Assist Sponsorship Manager in creating comprehensive follow-up reports for all sponsors 
  • Assist in gathering information from sponsors for collateral materials and website 
  • Assist with event set up, on-site responsibilities, and troubleshooting during the annual Wisconsin State Fair 
  • Assist in coordination of and execution of annual sponsor recognition event held during the annual Wisconsin State Fair 
  • Opportunity to be part of Wisconsin State Fair StreetTeam promoting the Fair at events throughout Wisconsin and Northern Illinois
  • Assist in coordination of Employee Merchandise Program 
  • Administrative responsibilities including scheduling meetings, note taking, industry research, and overall organizational responsibilities including preparing expense reports, copying, answering phones, filing, ordering supplies, and other general duties as requested

Candidates must be outgoing, quick learners, self-starters, able to take initiative in projects and tasks, and capable of working with little direction at times. The ideal candidate is able to multi-task, work under pressure and pay strict attention to detail, all with a great attitude. Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • Sophomore status or above, working toward a degree in Marketing, Business, or Communications 
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Programs; 
  • Client Services, Sales and/or Event Coordination experience preferred 
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and function with minimal to moderate supervision; 
  • Ability to withstand an ever-changing, fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure; 
  • Ability to work extended hours at times leading up to and during the Wisconsin State Fair (June, July and August); 
  • Creative experience and knowledge of graphic design programs a plus, though not required 
  • Knowledge of the Fair and agriculture industry also a plus, though neither are required.

The Sponsorship Intern will work from Mid-February through Mid-August, although exact dates and hours may be worked around school schedules. The position is part-time during the spring semester and full-time during the summer, as follows:

  • Mid-February – Mid-May: 8-10 hours per week 
  • Mid-May – Mid-August: 40 hours per week (up to 50 hours during the State Fair) 

Candidates must be available some weekends and all 11 days of the Wisconsin State Fair, August 6 – 16, 2015.

This internship is paid and is also available for college credit.
