Wisconsin State Fair Park is multi-purpose entertainment venue hosting activities, events and meetings throughout the year. Hundreds of events are held at Wisconsin State Fair Park each year, most notably the annual Wisconsin State Fair, presented by U.S. Cellular.
The 11-day Wisconsin State Fair is the state’s largest agriculture showcase, and features 30 FREE entertainment stages, hundreds of food and beverage vendors, endless family activities, events, contests and more. The Fair welcomed a record-breaking 1,030,881 guests in 2014 and the 2015 Fair will mark 164 years of celebrating this tradition.
Candidates must be outgoing, quick learners, self-starters, able to take initiative in projects and tasks, and capable of working with little direction at times. The ideal candidate is able to multi-task, work under pressure and pay strict attention to detail, all with a great attitude. Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Sophomore status or above, working toward a degree in Marketing, Business, or Communications
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Programs;
- Client Services, Sales and/or Event Coordination experience preferred
- Ability to work well in a team environment and function with minimal to moderate supervision;
- Ability to withstand an ever-changing, fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure;
- Ability to work extended hours at times leading up to and during the Wisconsin State Fair (June, July and August);
- Creative experience and knowledge of graphic design programs a plus, though not required
- Knowledge of the Fair and agriculture industry also a plus, though neither are required.
The Sponsorship Intern will work from Mid-February through Mid-August, although exact dates and hours may be worked around school schedules. The position is part-time during the spring semester and full-time during the summer, as follows:
- Mid-February – Mid-May: 8-10 hours per week
- Mid-May – Mid-August: 40 hours per week (up to 50 hours during the State Fair)
Candidates must be available some weekends and all 11 days of the Wisconsin State Fair, August 6 – 16, 2015.
This internship is paid and is also available for college credit.
