This position is responsible for providing communications consulting and writing and editing support for business areas within the Advisor Wealth Management (AWM) segment with a primary focus on driving engagement among the Ameriprise Financial Institutions Group channel (financial advisors and financial institutions).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide communications consulting and support for Advice & Wealth Management segment.
  • Create communications “playbook” to support AFIG acquisition / growth pipeline 
  • Consult with business partners across the company regarding Ameriprise Financial Institution Group (AFIG) - specific communication needs; develop communication plans, templates and ad-hoc emails, articles, etc. 
  • Act as primary liaison between AFIG sales / operations leaders and communicators within the company 
  • Play a key role in “takeover / onboarding” communications, reinforcing adherence to process while providing support for aligned-upon customization requests 
  • Develop and conduct “road show” presentation to reintroduce corporate partners to the AFIG channel, with an emphasis on communicating to the AFIG audiences 
  • Interview AFIG advisors/field members and write feature stories that support key priorities 
  • Work with business partners to understand objectives and desired results, assess business needs/challenges and develop content to support. 
  • Proactively identify opportunities to help business partners achieve their goals and create an optimal audience experience 
  • Support AFIG national calls, including developing script and presentation slides 
  • Support and manage online content for FI Connect website 
  • Provide communications consulting and support for Advice & Wealth Management segment. 
  • Support communications for critical firm priorities, including the Ameriprise Client Experience and growth (acquisition/referrals). 
  • Support communications for key growth initiatives, including the way we tell our firm story to experienced advisor recruits and women advisors 
  • Interview advisors/field members and write feature stories that support key priorities 
  • Write, edit and coordinate communications to field members 
  • Work with business partners to understand objectives and desired results, assess business needs/challenges and develop content to support. 
  • Proactively identify opportunities to help business partners achieve their goals and create an optimal audience experience 
  • Create innovative communications tactics to drive business results in alignment with the overall enterprise editorial strategy 
  • General field editorial support 
  • Contribute to enterprise editorial strategy 
  • Interview advisors and write best practice stories for AdvisorCompass 
  • Develop a variety of communications for the field audience, including AdvisorCompass series (referrals, human interest, etc.) 
  • Contribute to department newsletters and magazines, including Franchise magazine and Quarterly Connection

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of four years of professional experience in communications or public relations.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines. 
  • Self-motivated to seek out additional projects. 
  • Ability to providing coaching and influence of internal partners and provide communications counsel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong project management, interpersonal and decision-making skills. 
  • High proficiency in Word and PowerPoint. 
  • Ability to think strategically, navigate complex situations, and influence people at various levels of the organization. 
  • Proactive approach and creative problem-solving skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as an effective team member.
  • Understanding of financial services. 
  • Undergraduate degree preferred in communications, journalism, English or equivalent related work experience
