CHS has an exciting new opportunity to enhance the reputation of a global Fortune 100 agribusiness company and join a seasoned and professional communications team. This position will work closely with the senior director of corporate communications to proactively lead multimedia strategies across multiple stakeholder groups, build relationships with reporters and industry influencers, execute on executive visibility plans through exceptional storytelling and interpersonal savvy.

As a key member of corporate communications, this role will also be a part of the crisis communications team, as well as lead our corporate social responsibility communications– which includes both stewardship and sustainability.

The corporate communications professional is part of the CHS enterprise marketing team led by the senior vice president of marketing communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute detailed communication plans to advance corporate reputation. 
  • Be a terrific storyteller with an entrepreneurial spirit to work with regional and local media outlets to pitch and place stories in the press. 
  • Strategically partner with members of the senior marketing communications leadership team to define strategies and needs. 
  • Identify industry news and news angles to incorporate CHS into the larger conversation on ag, the business of ag and sustainability. 
  • Help champion sustainable brand purpose and ensure visibility across all key touchpoints. 
  • Work with the Chief Sustainability Office (CSO) and the business divisions to promote the company’s sustainability initiatives. 
  • Write pitches and news releases, interface with the in-house digital team for multi-channel press and content creation. 
  • Identify industry meetings for executive speaking placements and CHS sponsorships. 
  • Provide clear, consistent, and frequent messaging regarding key initiatives, business results, changes, progress, and overall business priorities.

Minimum Qualifications (required):

  • High School diploma or GED 5+ years of experience in corporate communications influencing company brands and reputations. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or marketing preferred. 
  • Strong storyteller who can cut through the clutter and develop insightful and straightforward ideas that are new and relevant. 
  • Executive presence and exceptional communications skills to clearly articulate ideas and strategies, and counsel company leaders. 
  • Experience in agriculture communications helpful, but not required. Strong team player with excellent written and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to cultivate close relationships with leaders, media, and industry influencers. 
  • Create and execute both external and internal visibility plans.
