The Sr. Creative Manager role is a creative leadership opportunity (Creative Director level) to oversee the in-house creative team at Sargento Foods. This position is a hybrid/remote role, working from Sargento's Plymouth office in-person 3 days a week, Tuesday - Thursday from 8am-4pm and from home on Monday 8am-4pm and Fridays (half days 8am-Noon all year round).

We’re looking for a thought leader who has their finger on the pulse of creative and digital trends and has proven experience introducing, influencing, and leading best-in-class forward-looking creative thinking that aligns with the brand's business objectives. As the creative lead for Sargento’s in-house creative services group, you’ll lead the planning, brainstorming, and development of all in-house creative work, collaborating closely with internal marketing executives and external agency partners. You’ll develop, coach and mentor a talented team of creatives who work across these channels: digital/social, web, omni-channel, package design, print collateral, internal brand identity, and more. You’ll also develop and manage a network of freelance creatives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership and support to Creative team including hiring, crafting, mentoring and coaching
  • Participate in strategic planning, when appropriate
  • Provide project leadership of select marketing initiatives
  • Oversee creative budgets and ensure quality and financial efficiency through the effective use of internal and external resources
  • Maintain internal style guides and digital creative best practice documents 
  • Manage and maintain Corporate Trademark, Copyright, and Brand mark equities 
  • Manage “one voice” communication to consumers through the execution of graphic/copy standards that meet objectives
  • Promote a system of appropriate input and review before creative elements are finalized and released
  • Manage two subordinate creative managers who supervise a pool of graphic designers in the Integrated Marketing Communications Department 
  • Oversee the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this team 
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws; interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, budgeting, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 10+ years’ experience at design and/or creative agencies, or in-house at consumer products or relevant companies- experience working in-house in an Integrated Agency Team environment is a plus! 
  • Ability to provide strong POV, evaluate creative and provide actionable creative feedback
  • Strong leadership skills; experience managing and working with agencies, and cross-functional teams 
  • 5+ years’ experience managing, building and motivating a broad creative group working across multiple disciplines 
  • Proficiency with design tools (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) 
  • Working knowledge of website content management systems, PIMs, DAM, etc 
  • High competency in managing multiple projects 
  • Proven record of working across various creative disciplines (social, digital, video, traditional, packaging, etc.) 
  • Fluent in traditional and digital design trends 
  • Ability to think strategically and translate strategy into creative Collaborative; working with both internal partners and outside agencies 
  • Understands the production process for various types of creative outputs
  • Storytelling/presentation skills; comfortable presenting to senior management
  • Organizational skills; ability to manage condensed timelines
