Your Opportunity:

The Senior Director, Marketing develops the strategic direction for the residential business serving the specifics needs of urban, suburban, and homeowners with acreage customers. Responsible for leading all marketing functions including strategic planning, annual planning, pricing, promotion, P&L management, marketing communications, financing and channel strategy, as well as providing leadership to product development and customer lifetime value creation.  Accountable to achieving annual plans in terms of sales, profit contribution, inventory turns, product introductions and strategic imperatives for the residential business.

What Will You Do?

To grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:

  • Develops market analysis and leads the long term strategic and annual planning processes for the business.
  • Works closely with director of engineering, director of product management, and marketing management team on product development projects and multi-generational product planning (MGPP), ensuring that projects are properly defined, prioritized and meet customer requirements.
  • Leads and executes on annual marketing plans focused on broadening engagement and strengthening brand relevance in key customer segments.
  • Ensures that all marketing elements of the annual plan are implemented effectively and on time, including marketing guides, advertising, promotions, direct communications, market research, financing, web site, merchandising materials, trade shows and other initiatives as developed.
  • Reacts quickly to market dynamics to achieve annual sales plan. Works closely with sales team to implement programs.
  • Works in conjunction with sales, integrated business planning, and integrated supply chain teams to meet channel fill rate requirements and optimize Toro and retailer partner inventory turns.
  • Works in conjunction with sales to develop customized marketing plans for distributors, dealers, and mass retail partners.
  • Works with marketing communications, customer service, engineering, product managers and sales to get end user input regarding products and promotions. Develop and maintain business tracking processes and analyze data.
  • Responsible for tracking and managing the overall marketing budget
  • Responsible for ensuring the integrity of customer databases and develop programs for optimizing their use (i.e. marketing automation).
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of industry and trade developments through channel contacts, trade publications, seminars and trade shows.
  • Identifies opportunities for potential joint-venture / acquisition candidates as appropriate.
  • Represents The Toro Company at various industry functions, meetings, and activities.
  • Recruits, develops, and leads marketing personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years of cross-functional, broad-based business experience, preferably in the durable goods industry with experience with dealer channel.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are required to lead and manage the marketing department.
  • Strong technical skills are required to analyze and assess effectiveness of existing systems and to recommend and implement new systems and technologies to improve overall service and efficiencies.
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated superior interpersonal and leadership skills for project/team management.
  • Team oriented leader, who is fully supportive of division objectives and functions.  Must work well with functional peers, across company divisions and with channel partners.
  • Alignment with Toro Company values.

Preferred:

  • An MBA is preferred.
  • Prior experience with the RLC (Residential, Landscape & Contractor) dealer channels preferred.
