Job Summary:

This position is a pivotal role within marketing in moving initiatives forward, as well as helping establish a long range plan to fuel portfolio growth. This would include maximizing revenue and gross profit for products in the pharmaceutical division by developing and establishing strategic KOL engagement, leveraging relationships and partnerships to support Fresenius Kabi’s message of Caring for Life. Responsibilities also include market analysis, branding influence, and strategic planning within this portfolio.

This position will play a key role in partnering with Key Opinion Leaders and Thought Leader Organizations to help develop sound strategy and a strong position in the market.

The role is an office based position focused on working closely with Key Opinion Leaders within Pharmacy, Anesthesia and Nursing. This position will be responsible for conducting strategic advisory boards, assisting in the development of strategy for key customer segments and building strong relationships with thought leaders, their institutions, and their associated professional organizations. This position will support the field with clinical expertise and training, as appropriate, and help develop key Corporate Accounts with ASHP, ASA, AANA, SAMBA, and others.

This position is heavily reliant on interacting with multiple Fresenius Kabi business functions including product development, regulatory, project management, business analytics, sales, and national accounts. The candidate must be able to successfully facilitate and complete projects in a “dotted line” environment. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently, as well as have the ability to prioritize issues, deal with ambiguity and manage conflicting deadlines. Preference will be given to candidates that hold an effective understanding of the hospital environment, anesthesia treatments, alternate site treatment settings, clinical issues, and product applications in the pharmaceutical market to help influence product design and sales performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of Fresenius Kabi’s assigned therapeutic class, including current and future market trends for ready-to-administer offerings, products, and competitors. 
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the future pipeline products and their characteristics and requirements, e.g. patent issues, competitive landscape, manufacturing challenges, pricing and market dynamics, barriers to entry. 
  • Position the brand as a clear industry leader by identifying tradeshows, industry publications and KOL sponsorships to help create product awareness and value proposition. Work closely with the sales team to create high-impact promotional materials that support strategic objectives and challenger messaging. 
  • Work in collaboration with Business Unit (BU) Portfolio Team and Business Development to make go/no go recommendations on new pipeline candidates as well as assess the market potential for creative line extensions that augment our competitive advantage. 
  • Execute a customer centric needs based approach with targeted KOLs, work with Fresenius Kabi regulatory, medical, and legal compliance guidelines. 
  • Act as Fresenius Kabi primary point of contact for key patient safety/medication safety advocacy groups. Also responsible for relationships with clinicians, clinical organizations, and affiliated safety organizations. 
  • Identify KOLs, cultivate and maintain long term relationships with KOLs within the clinical community. 
  • Act as the primary liaison between KOLs and Fresenius Kabi, and home office cross-functional teams. 
  • Lead the development of Key Account / engagement plans for each assigned KOL. 
  • Assist in the execution of Advisory Boards and speaker programs. This may involve identifying, recommending, and inviting potential advisors, moderators and speakers. 
  • Work closely with targeted KOLs to obtain feedback vital in the development of specific brand-related strategies and the evaluation of new opportunities. 
  • Attend local, regional, and national meetings as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Masters or PharmD degree preferred 
  • Minimum of 7 years work experience with 5+ years of experience in the healthcare industry required. 
  • Experience in the generic pharmaceutical and/or hospital business a plus. 
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in at least one of the following areas preferred: hospital pharmacy and/or marketing, sales, contract marketing, business analytics, business development, project or portfolio management. 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills. 
  • Strong analytical skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail required. 
  • Effective communication, negotiation and presentation skills. 
  • Superior interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and stay within budget. 
  • Ability to work independently to execute against strategic and tactical plans under tight timelines. 
  • Ability to assemble and lead cross functional teams toward a shared vision of success. 
  • Ability to travel to meeting/trainings/programs/clients as necessary. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
