What you will do:

Reporting to the Communications Director, you will be responsible for creating and leading effective communications for employees in the Above Market & Field Operations businesses within Building Solutions, North America (BSNA). This role is imperative to driving understanding of and engagement into the business strategy for growth across BSNA, supporting change management through communications and increasing our organizational health and culture scores.

In this role, you will be instrumental in the planning, creation and execution of communications across the businesses. Your broad knowledge of effective communication messaging and channel strategy (online and offline), measurement and advanced knowledge of specific technical/operational practices applied to a variety of projects will make you a successful candidate in this role. Working with the wider communications team, you will strive to continually evaluate and improve our resources and communication vehicles for all employees, regardless of role and location, while bringing new and innovative ideas to the table.

How you will do it:

  • Support business and functional leaders in creating communications that drive employee engagement and business / strategy understanding. 
  • Act as communications partner to the Above Market & Field Operations teams, providing guidance, support and communications best practices. 
  • Partner with key contacts to deliver impactful change communications and approaches that drive adoption of new products, tools, process and mindsets. 
  • Leverage communications to drive organizational health and support action plans as an outcome of employee survey results. 
  • Create engaging, creative, interactive and targeted communications that align with our business goals. 
  • Collaborate with marketing communications, public relations and digital teams to leverage existing content. 
  • Oversee processes and protocol to ensure accurate dissemination of information. 
  • Create interactive communications across multiple platforms. 
  • Create a disciplined approach to communications – driving consistency in communications processes, including measuring effectiveness and driving strategic adjustments based on results. 
  • Manage various communications programs from concept to completion as assigned by the Communications Director.

Job responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the planning, delivery and measurement of internal communication plans across the BSNA business, to help support the execution of company growth strategies, increase employee engagement, and drive organizational health improvements. 
  • Aids in the creation, editing and proofreading of materials to support execution of communications plans and associated materials related to Above Market & Field Operations, as well as various functions (HR, Finance, Legal, etc.). 
  • Coordinates distribution and tracking of communications to build appropriate audience profiles and ensures timely delivery and follow-up with key audiences. 
  • Assists with development and distribution of surveys to gather data for measuring the results of communications plans, campaigns and strategies. 
  • Regularly publishes content on communication vehicles (Intranet, newsletters, email, video, podcasts, social) to ensure on-time, accurate delivery of messages. 
  • Brings new ideas to the table to create engaging content to support creative delivery and understanding of key messages. 
  • Communicates with a dispersed, remote workforce across the U.S. and Canada, representing roles from sales to technician to management and customer support. 
  • Supports the team with large scale live events, as well as onsite presentation coordination, including webinars and live broadcast. 
  • Conceptualizes and creates communications in line with business/function/enterprise direction and strategy to strengthen understanding and commitment. May include support of employee engagement, business developments, internal promotion of products/services, change management and crisis communications. 
  • Oversees communications review process with internal subject matter experts, stakeholders, legal/compliance and other leaders as needed. 
  • Coordinates, develops and executes communication plans and strategies in line with broader Johnson Controls messaging strategy and aligned with internal branding to help educate, inform and engage employees. 
  • Provides support to broader, enterprise communication strategies to achieve larger-scale initiatives along with the corporate communications team. 
  • Manages research, information gathering and content creation to support execution of messaging plans. 
  • Manages the delivery of print, email and online communications across a global business unit/function or enterprise-wide to ensure successful distribution.

What we look for:

Required:

  • 5+ years specifically in corporate business/employee communications with demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills across a variety of creative formats. 
  • Must possess the confidence and maturity to interact with all levels of the organization with the ability to maintain confidential or sensitive information, as well as influence with and without authority. 
  • Ability to tailor messages to various employee audiences using appropriate tone, nuance and level of information; superior command of grammar and usage. 
  • Ability to quickly gather and synthesize information from a variety of sources; aptitude for translating complex topics and issues into broadly understandable messages to employees. 
  • Strong project management skills and ability to multitask. 
  • Excellent organizational skills.
