As a Staff Photographer & Videographer at Klein Tools, you will be responsible for creating photo and video content as part of our internal studio team. Equal parts photographer, cinematographer, retoucher and editor, this role requires a balance of strategic conceptual thinking that delivers against the brief, pre-production planning, post-production and deadline and time management. You’re a passionate visual storyteller who knows that the best final outcome is only achieved by planning for every granular detail. You understand the value of studying/testing product, location scouting, pulling scrap, crafting shot lists and storyboarding — before even thinking about gear or picking up a camera. You obsess over the consumer experience and are proactive, collaborative, persuasive and dedicated to honing your craft and building the visual future of the Klein Tools brand.

  1. Capture, retouch, color and deliver high-quality still photographs that both tell authentic, aspirational product stories and reinforce the Klein Tools evolving visual brand story.
  2. Capture, edit, color and deliver high-quality video footage that communicates authentic, aspirational product stories and reinforces the Klein Tools evolving visual brand story.
  3. Pre-production planning – study the brief and develop the product stories through storyboarding, shotlists, and idea/concept pitch backs to creative and marketing stakeholders.
  4. Adapt, adjust and action stakeholder feedback to position product accurately and competitively, meet brand standards and objectives, and position Klein Tools as an authentic authority with all skilled trades.
  5. Foster and contribute to a collaborative and creative environment that encourages proactivity, strategic intent and excellence in creative output.
  6. Under strategic guidance of the Creative Director and Creative Studio Manager, continuously evaluate and advocate for evolution of brand imagery & identity — to maintain competitive edge while staying true to consumer and brand and elevating the perception and authority of Klein Tools.
  7. As a representative of Klein Tools, partner and collaborate with external vendors, freelancers and agencies as needed to contribute to large scale integrated marketing campaigns and creative productions.

Skills:

  • Experience in a visual storytelling creative production role — Photographer, Cinematographer, Videographer — with a skillset and competencies to execute in all three.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects under tight, concurrent deadlines.
  • A strong understanding of pre-production processes – site scouting, storyboarding, shot lists, reference material, etc.
  • A strong understanding of lighting (natural, ambient, augmented) and color – and the expertise in how to control and manipulate it.
  • Excellent attention to detail with organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Proficiency in critical thinking and problem solving in the context of production limitations and hurdles.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, InDesign) and other design tools.
  • Experience with photography, retouching, video production, sound mix and color – and the ability to fluently provide meaningful input and contributions in these mediums.
  • Familiarity with Project Management (Monday.com or similar), Interface Design/Collaboration (Figma) and Digital Asset Management (Bynder or similar) tools
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities, with the capacity to articulate and sell strategic creative ideas effectively.
  • Experience managing agencies, vendors and maintaining budgets

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Film Production, Cinematography, Fine Art, Marketing, or a related field — or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years of progressive experience, most recently in a creative production role such as Photographer or Videographer, preferably in an agency or in-house environment.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in editorial, photography, film production, multimedia campaign execution with practical visuals at the center of communications.

This role has an annual salary range of $60,000-$75,000.
