Position Summary:

TEMPO is looking for a summer Graphic Design & Social Media intern (May-August) to join our talented team of professionals. An ideal candidate has declared a major in graphic design or related field with applicable work samples. This paid part-time (20-25 hours per week) offers a graphic design/social media student the opportunity to build his/her portfolio while creating a diverse range of print and online materials for TEMPO. Under the direction of TEMPO’s VP, Member Engagement & Signature Events, the Graphic Design & Social Media intern is responsible for assisting with creation of marketing materials including and not limited to newsletters, social media posts, e-blasts, signage, event programs, reports and presentation templates.

The candidate must have availability for 20 hours/week during regular office hours (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) Monday-Thursday, and during events that occur outside of these hours as agreed upon (morning and evening). We will work with the intern to set a schedule and divide up the 20 hours each week.

The internship runs throughout the student’s 2024 summer semester (May through August) with start/end date to be discussed.

Essential Duties: 

  • Responsible for assisting with creation of marketing materials including and not limited to newsletters, social media posts, e-blasts, signage, event programs, reports and presentation templates. 
  • Support the content creation and scheduling to the organization’s Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn channels. 
  • Support social media efforts during events (i.e. live tweeting, photo albums) and recaps post-events. 
  • Assist in creating promotional/marketing materials for organization’s events and programs including: Weekly Monday Message; e-blasts and social media posts. TEMPO/EWL monthly program meetings Quarterly TEMPO professional development sessions Organization meetings (Committee meetings, orientation) EWL Signature Event RISE (May 2024) 2024 TEMPO Golf Outing (July 2024) 2024 TEMPO Leadership Event (November 2024) 
  • Support updates to external website content including refreshing graphics and images.

Qualifications:

  • Declared major in graphic design or related field with applicable work samples. 
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects while meeting deadlines. 
  • Attention to detail and high standards for producing accurate and quality work. 
  • Strong writing and verbal communications skills. 
  • Understands and applies AP Style. 
  • A modern aesthetic and appreciation for branding. Can you represent ideas in images or infographics rather than long form words? Are you thoughtful about voice, tone & style?
  • Proficiency with graphic design tools (InDesign, Photoshop, Canva) 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite offerings (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint). 
  • Interested in working in a small office environment where a dynamic, problem-solver, motivated personality is required.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • This is a paid internship ($16/hour). This is a college credit internship. We will work with the candidates’ educational institution for college credit if applicable. 
  • Must be available to work Monday-Thursday during regular office hours, preferably with 4-5 core hours at the TEMPO office (The Avenue | 275 W Wisconsin Avenue | MKE 53203) as well as at events outside of these hours as needed.
