Visit Middleton is the tourism department for the City of Middleton, Wisconsin, and is looking to hire a Tourism Marketing Manager to lead its marketing and advertising efforts. Come help us tell our story.
Our department is located in a renovated historic depot station in the heart of downtown Middleton. We promote leisure travel, group travel and conventions and events at our hotels (we do not plan events, but we do financially support them through a grant program). Middleton is home to the largest convention center hotel in Dane County and thus hosts many events, and the city has eight other properties that cater to long-term stays, business travel and leisure/family travel.
The department underwent a full rebranding in 2020-2021, launching Visit Middleton in January of 2022. The department remodeled its visitors center with new office space and a conference room in 2021-22. Visit Middleton also hired a new marketing agency of record to assist the Tourism Marketing Manager. The first projects this position will oversee are the completion of the 2023 visitors guide and, under the direction of the Tourism Director, redesign of the Visit Middleton website (anticipated completion date spring 2023).
With Pheasant Branch Conservancy to the north, Pleasant View Golf Course to the west, Lake Mendota to the east, and sharing its southwestern borders with the city of Madison, Middleton has something to offer every traveler while also providing more than 70 dining and 50 shopping opportunities and 1,150 hotel rooms, as well as the area’s largest convention center hotel.
Visit Middleton is hiring a Tourism Marketing Manager. Job applications are now open via The City of Middleton employment page, and close at 11:59 p.m., Sept. 11. You will be asked to submit a resume, cover letter, authorization form for a background check, and a digital portfolio of three samples, as well as fill out the online application.
The Tourism Marketing Manager, under the administrative supervision of the Director of Tourism, is responsible for the development, implementation and management of Visit Middleton’s marketing and communications initiatives, including: writing press releases, newsletters and other ad content; managing social media platforms (writing and posting); managing print and digital advertising; and maintaining an updated website. They serve as project manager overseeing the development and distribution of the annual visitor guide, oversees photo and video libraries, and in collaboration with the Director, the Tourism Marketing Manager also serves as a liaison to the media.
