Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) invites applications for a full-time University Advancement Marketing Specialist to join our Marketing Communications team. Under the director of the Director of University Advancement Marketing & Donor Relations, the University Advancement Marketing Specialist provides marketing communications support in developing and implementing communications, campaigns, and marketing materials that support the Office of University Advancement’s goals while maintaining and enhancing the MSOE brand through detailed project management and communication expertise. Works collaboratively with key university stakeholders to develop creative, results-oriented marketing campaigns to support MSOE's strategic priorities, build the institutional brand and help increase engagement from key constituent groups that support the University’s year-over-year fundraising growth and goals.

Essential Job Functions:

University Advancement Marketing Project Management (50%)

  • Under the leadership of the Director of University Advancement Marketing, this role supports the creation, planning/project management and execution of communications to support the university's advancement targets and engages key constituent groups (including alumni, parents and families, donors, and corporate partners). 
  • Proactively project manage an annual calendar of university advancement and alumni relations communications including marketing collateral, web content, social media, and event communications. Serve as a detail-oriented project manager who supports the Director of University Advancement Marketing and collaborates effectively with key stakeholders across campus to develop high quality, engaging and results-oriented communications. 
  • Work to deliver a strong, consistent, and cohesive brand identity and voice across all communications. Support the Office of University Advancement through development of high-quality content including print, web, digital signage, event-related communications, social media, and other emerging platforms. Works in close partnership with Marketing Communications team through the Director of University Advancement to maintain a cohesive brand while managing follow up activities, communications, and results. 

University Advancement Content Creation (50%)

  • Provide writing support for university advancement-focused marketing campaigns, newsletters, impact, and alumni success stories that positively position and promote the university and its mission to key constituent groups. 
  • Provide expertise in design and development of marketing collateral for the Office of University Advancement within the MSOE brand framework. Multimedia skills in graphic design, photography and social media a plus. 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with internal and external audiences and vendors, providing feedback and input in a timely manner.
  • Be able to conduct a professional presentation.
  • Maintain an understanding of stated university overarching goals and objectives.
  • Model MSOE’s mission, vision and values and conduct themselves with behavior that models the MSOE Mindset. This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, or related area of study.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional communications experience is required. Higher education and/or nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience in Adobe Creative Suite; InDesign, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. As well as Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience designing for web, digital or interactive platforms is a plus.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Requires attention to detail, strong organizational competence, and the ability to coordinate multiple deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work with frequent interruptions and professionally respond to variations in schedules and plans. Must be self-directed with strong problem-solving skills including the ability to develop innovative approaches and ideas and meet challenges with resourcefulness.
  • Possess or develop an understanding of university advancement, philanthropy, alumni relations and the unique considerations, language and motivations of these important target audiences while maintaining a consistent voice.
  • Prior experience working in higher education or an institutional advancement office also a plus but not required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have the ability to read, interpret and write documents such as correspondence and guidelines.
  • Ability to speak effectively before employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is largely sedentary, the ability to move is required. The employee is occasionally required to traverse within their work area as well as other areas on campus.
