We are a passionate team of UX and software development professionals who deliver a diverse portfolio of technical solutions, including high-performance web applications and mobile apps, that enable members to easily manage their financial lives.

The User Experience Developer is a natural problem-solver with a passion for cross-functional collaboration, always in search of solutions where technology, business and user needs meet. In this role, you demonstrate avid curiosity and empathy for users and a desire to seek viewpoints outside of your own. You combine creativity and analytical thinking to create intuitive and useful interfaces and experiences.

You will be responsible for user experience design of UW Credit Union’s digital channels with an emphasis on usability, including interface design, information architecture, prototyping and user testing. You are also accountable for front-end web development in CSS & HTML, including the maintenance of UI component libraries. Collaborating with UW Credit Union stakeholders and engineers, you are empowered to design innovative and industry-leading experiences. This position works in an Agile environment and participates in team activities supporting our iterative development process.

This is a work-from-home position that will report to the Corporate Office in Madison, WI when UW Credit Union's phased Return to Work plan is implemented.

Responsibilities:

  • Design user interfaces and user experiences for UW Credit Union's web applications and mobile apps. 
  • Develop and communicate user experience technical requirements with user experience (UX) deliverables, such as personas, prototypes, information architecture diagrams, mockups, and workflow diagrams. 
  • Build pre-production prototypes of web applications and mobile apps using CSS, HTML, and other prototyping tools. 
  • Use web analytics data and conduct user research, such as card sorts, user interviews, and usability tests, to inform UX designs. 
  • Maintain a UI component library using CSS and HTML for use by our engineering team. 
  • Pursue a deep understanding of, and consistently apply, UX best practices to new and existing projects. 
  • Partner with engineers and internal stakeholders to design experiences which meet technical, business and user needs. 
  • Collaborate frequently with engineers during development to provide design oversight and assure final products achieve the desired user experience.
  • 2+ years experience in user research, user experience design or user interface development. 
  • Experience in research, analysis, problem solving, design and delivery of Web-based solutions.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop and/or other graphic design tools. 
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS. 
  • Experience in e-Commerce Web site management. 
  • Knowledge of major Web browsers and the capabilities and limitations of each. 
  • Knowledge of current and emerging web development tools. 
  • Talent and passion for technology, automation, and process improvement. 
  • Familiarity with the financial services industry is a plus. 
  • Familiarity with JavaScript is a plus.
