As a User Experience Designer on the Design Innovation Team at Summit Credit Union, you will be conceptualizing new digital experiences and rapidly building prototypes to test out novel ideas. You will need to know how to conceive of novel solutions, visualize designs through storyboards & wireframes and develop prototypes from scratch. You will analyze needs of end users, translate needs into development requirements and coordinate with appropriate vendors and staff to implement solutions. You will be given a great deal of latitude to determine what tools and technology work best for any given project. You must have the willingness and confidence to be an obsessive advocate for user-centered research and for a design-thinking approach to creative problem-solving.

You love learning new things and learning them quickly. You may not have depth in all of the below, but you are confident and can show you would be capable and interested in learning.

Work Experience. You have a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Design or Information Technology orComputer Science and one to three years applicable professional experience. Or minimum four years applicable professional experience and technical certification.

User-Centered Design. You have extensive knowledge and experience of user-centered design process. You have experience driving and applying user-centered design processes while working collaboratively with team members, along with cross-functional teams across the greater organization.

Design Experience. You have an ability to rapid prototype in a range of fidelities, from napkin sketches and thumbnails to high fidelity mockups and UI prototypes. You must be proficient in a variety of design tools (e.g. Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision or related software). Development Experience.Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience with web development technologies such as HTML and CSS.

User-Centric Approach. You have experience conducting user-centered research through focus groups, usage analysis, rapid prototyping, user interviews, usability tests, etc. Strong Technical Acumen.Ability to troubleshoot and solve major complex problems. You are comfortable using git and can keep multiple complex (non linear) projects organized. You have technical writing or documentation experience.

Communication Skills. You have professional, well-developed verbal and written communication skills essential for positive interactions with employees and members. You have an ability to work both independently and as part of a team. And you operate effectively under different project management methodologies.

Credit Union Experience. Experience working in the credit union industry with sound understanding of banking terminology and related concepts would be very helpful

Knowledge of the Following:

  1. Understanding of best practices around developing sensitive data intensive applications
  2. Exposure to Agile and SDLC
  3. Application development frameworks
  4. Source code and version controls systems like Git
  5. Software development using object oriented programming languages
  6. Familiarity with a variety of databases like MS SQL or MySQL
  7. Enterprise architectures
  8. Amazon AWS / Google Cloud Platform / Microsoft Azure
  9. Microsoft Windows OS and Office products
