User Interface Designer

Summary:

At Spok, we are looking for talented and energetic professionals interested in joining a team that is solving critical healthcare communications problems through design and technology. You’ll be working to define and build Spok’s solutions for the next-generation of enterprise software solutions for healthcare communications. In this role you will:

• Create simple, usable mobile and web app interfaces using industry standard tools like Sketch, Framer, InVision and Principle 
• Solve challenging problems that make a real difference 
• Maintain visual consistency across products & interactions 
• Delight Spok users by curating the look and feel of our products 
• Define, advocate and implement best practices in digital interface design 
• Evangelize the values of aesthetics, legibility, and simplicity 
• Be an active participant in design reviews 
• Advocate for our critical communication’s users in healthcare

Skills and Experience Required:

• 3-5 years experience creating digital interfaces 
• A strong portfolio including mobile and web applications 
• Excellent understanding of color, typography and hierarchy as they relate to interfaces 
• Ability to communicate UI requirements to software development 
• Strong design opinions, held loosely. Meaning the ability to articulate and justify decisions but understanding that other perspectives or knowledge could change your opinion. 
• Knowledge of best practices for mobile interfaces (touch sizes, contrast, etc.) 
• Understanding of accessibility issues caused by digital interfaces as well as methods to mitigate these issues 
• Know the difference between design fads and solving a problem visually

Additional Skills and Experience Desired:

• Ability to contribute towards custom illustration projects 
• Experience animating interfaces (After Effects, Principle, etc.) 
• Product branding experience 
• Front-end coding ability - either web or native mobile 
• Experience designing across mobile platforms (IOS, Android, Windows) 
• Background in prototyping and testing your designs with users 
• Experience creating design systems, not just style guides
