The UX/Content Strategist is a member of the Web Group within University Marketing (UMark). This position is responsible for executing strategies and tactics at all stages in the development of impactful digital products, from research and ideation through launch.

This role leverages user-centered design practices to understand target audiences and translate client goals into highly usable and accessible digital products, serves as content lead for strategic communication projects, and collaborates with marketing, design, and development teams on digital content strategies that advance the University's mission.

  • Researches, plans, and designs usable and accessible systems, services, and content to support user needs, meet project goals, and advance institutional priorities. 
  • Develops and leads training and outreach efforts to advance institutional capacity for user-centered practices. 
  • 5% - Designs and conducts research with users to understand context and needs, utilizing methods such as ethnographic/field research, interviews, usability testing, and surveys 
  • 20% - Analyzes, synthesizes, and communicates research data and metrics to inform policy, services, content, and interaction design 
  • 50% - Designs information architectures, user flows, interfaces, prototypes, design patterns/systems, content strategies, and services 
  • 5% - Designs and executes training, facilitation, and outreach materials, and researches and designs best practices to promote the use of user-centered, accessible practices at the institution 
  • 10% - Advises various stakeholders on user-centered and accessible practices 
  • 10% - Engages in project management

Required:

  • Minimum two years' relevant professional experience as a content strategist or in a UX/UI position.
  • Excellent understanding of the principles of UX/UI and user-centered design practices.
  • Experience organizing, structuring, and thoughtfully labeling content so that users can discover and traverse information effectively.
  • Excellent research/interviewing and communication skills.
  • Ability to think both analytically and creatively, and from the perspective of the target audience. 
  • Ability to work independently and with a team to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to convey a strategic vision to designers, and work through a designer's interpretation to improve upon the goals of the website.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.

Preferred:

  • Strong understanding of graphic design, well-versed in typography, color theory, layout, and hierarchy.
  • Experience or good understanding of brand development and execution.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud platforms and prototyping tools.
  • Solid understanding of copywriting for SEO, usability, and accessibility.
  • Ability to analyze research findings to make design recommendations.
  • Have a base level understanding of front-end implementation (HTML, CSS) and/or the desire to learn and grow this skillset.
  • Ability to create inclusive, accessible tools for a diverse user population.
