Pius XI Catholic High School is a private coeducational high school centrally located on Milwaukee’s west side. Founded by the Pallottine Fathers and School Sisters of St. Francis over 90 years ago, the School has a storied history and compelling mission. With nearly 30,000 alumni, Pius XI attracts students from throughout the Milwaukee metropolitan area and currently serves over 700 students. The School boasts a robust curriculum, including outstanding STEM and Arts programming. This critical role oversees all aspects of Advancement, including fund development, communications, marketing and alumni relations efforts. In addition, the school expects to enter into a comprehensive campaign in the near future, with the Vice President of Advancement playing a large role in the planning and execution of the campaign. The Vice President reports to and will work closely with the President. The role will also partner with the school’s senior staff including the Principal, Chief Financial Officer, Admissions Director and Board of Directors. The Vice President will manage and direct an Advancement staff.

  • Have a proven track record of successful fund development efforts, including the ability to build relationships with key benefactors and develop effective action plans to expand the community of Pius XI supporters
  • Have demonstrated success in building teams, including attracting, retaining and developing talented team members
  • Promote the Pius XI story to key constituent groups
  • Lead through example while fostering a culture of accountability
  • Practice The Golden Rule and embrace the School’s Core Values Engage staff by creating a climate in which team members are motivated to do their best and help Pius XI achieve its Advancement goals.

Mission and Leadership

  • Work effectively with the Board of Directors, President, and School leaders to ensure that the School and employees are guided and driven by a clearly communicated mission statement and Gospel based core values
  • Work effectively with the Board of Directors, President, and School leaders to ensure the successful implementation of the School’s strategic Goal Pillar objectives.

Fund Development

  • Create and administer the advancement efforts for current and future needs of the School
  • Work closely with the President, campaign consultants and Board of Directors to prepare and carry out required strategies to ensure a successful campaign outcome                         
  • Work with the President and CFO to establish annual fundraising targets and prepare, oversee, and execute an annual development plan to achieve said targets                           
  • Work with the President, Board of Directors, and Advancement Committee to reach fundraising goals and to identify new individual, foundation, and corporate funding prospects                                  
  • Maintain an active portfolio of major gift donors and inspire them to engage with the school through mutually rewarding relationships    
  • Work with the President, Advancement staff and Board of Directors to execute annual fundraising events, including the annual auction                                                                
  • Create and implement a planned giving program that encourages bequests, charitable trusts, and endowments                                                                                                 
  • Develop objectives and key results (OKR) and reporting tools to evaluate effectiveness of efforts.

Communication & Marketing

  • Oversee short-term and long-term communication strategies to elevate the Pius XI brand  
  • Create and execute a wholistic communications strategy that consistently supports and promotes the school's mission and values, and engages all stakeholder groups
  • Develop and execute a calendar of communications, campaigns, and initiatives for annual implementation
  • Create and execute school marketing campaigns (print and digital) for student recruitment, brand awareness, and fund development
  • Collaborate and partner with the School's academic leaders amd faculty to identify and advance the many student, teacjer, and alumni growth stories that take place within the Pius XI community
  • Develop objectives and key results (OKR) abd reporting tools to evaluate effectiveness of messaging, campaigns, and digital/print assets.  
Alumni Relations
  • Oversee School's Alumni Relations 
  • Work with Alumni Director to improve the quality and expansion of the School's data-base
  • Provide a multitude of opportunities for Alumni to engage with the School through hosted reunions, special events, and athletics and theater events
  • Devlelop objectives and key results (OKR) and reporting tools.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and five or more years of successful experience in non-profit advancement, including major gifts solicitation and data-base management
  • A strong belief in urban Catholic education
  • An established reputation for a professional disposition and collaborative approach
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of comprehensive non-profit advancement skills, including major gifts, annual giving, events, campaign execution, communications and marketing
  • Prioritize developing authentic relationships with key Pius XI benefactors
  • A sense of humor is a plus!
