Reputation Partners, a highly-regarded Chicago-based national strategic communications and public relations firm, is seeking its first-ever fully dedicated sales/business development professional to focus exclusively on securing new clients.

Reporting directly to the President & Founder, the ideal candidate has a proven track record of proactively securing opportunities for new client relationships and portfolios on behalf of a larger public relations, advertising or marketing agency, or in another professional services setting, and is looking for a leadership role in a thriving boutique public relations agency boasting strong relationships with world-renowned brands.

Unlike similar roles at other firms, we arenotlooking for someone to identify and field RFPs or simply deal with reactive inbound business inquiries to the firm.Nor are we looking for a PR practitioner. What we are seeking is a proven business developer who understands consultative selling and has a track record of creating opportunities with new clients.

The Vice President of Business Development is an exempt position.

Detailed Position Responsibilities:

  • Identifying targeted client prospects and decisionmakers at those prospects as well as referral sources
  • Contacting potential clients to establish rapport and arrange meetings/presentations
  • Increasing client base through proactive and strategic outreach
  • Researching organizations and individuals to find new opportunities
  • Developing an in-depth knowledge of the agency’s offerings, consulting model, culture and value proposition to identify profitable and appropriate business opportunities
  • Thorough knowledge of leading integrated new business efforts, including proactive targeting, and negotiations with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated business acumen with experience providing strategic advice and counsel to secure new business
  • Assessing marketing and sales and recommending improvements as needed.
  • Staying current on emerging trends and recommending new company offerings to satisfy clients’ needs.
  • Developing and managing strategic partnerships and referral sources to grow business leads.
  • Developing and managing CRM database to track opportunities

Professional Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, sales management or related field
  • 10+ years of highly-successful experience in sales or business development
  • Business development experience in professional services is a must.
  • Strong sales, communications and presentation skills
  • Critical thinker and problem solver
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty
  • Excellent command of MS Office and CRM software
