Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) invites applications for a full-time Visitor Services Manager to join our Grohmann Museum team. Working closely with the Museum Director, the Visitor Services Manager will promote a positive visitor experience while operating as the primary front-line representative for the Museum and its functions.

Essential Job Functions:

This individual is responsible for all visitor services functions, including:

  • Admissions desk operation 
  • Organizing/providing Museum tours and docent management 
  • Managing Museum events and university functions 
  • Museum Associate/student staffing and management 
  • Museum Store and supply management and inventory 
  • General Museum accounting: cash counts, deposits, attendance figures 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Education, outreach, programming, and promotions 
  • Museum facilities maintenance and security 
  • Museum furnishings inventory and management 
  • Staff liaison for custodial and catering functions 
  • Membership processing with database management 
  • Donor relations and all other Museum duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years front-line customer service or security experience required; museum experience desired
  • Demonstrated competence in database management and Microsoft Office fluency 
  • Associates Degree in Administration/Management required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred 

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before others. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral form.

Mathematical Skills:

  • General accounting, cash count, admissions data and banking skills required

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be extremely mobile to cover Museum gallery tours and events 
  • Ability to lift ~20lbs. for Museum Store stocking and inventory

Work Environment:

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role uses standard office equipment, including but not limited to computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
  • Work in a fun, educational, dynamic environment in which positive public engagement is essential.
  • Must be willing to flex schedule to accommodate after-hours activities and events.
