POSITION SUMMARY:

Bring the NMDP/Be The Match brand to life by developing innovative, actionable and eye-catching visual designs to drive brand awareness and loyalty. From concept to final delivery, this position will create visual content for multiple audiences and platforms.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Creative Execution:

  • Develops and implements audience appropriate visual strategies from start to completion for various audiences and platforms. Applications may include web, email, social, campaigns, advertising, personal stories, video, brochures, presentations, outreach materials, direct mail, posters, flyers, letters, etc. 
  • Collaborates with copywriters, strategists, production specialist and others to produce standout work. 
  • Ability to understand and translate marketing/strategic briefs into engaging creative concepts that support business objectives and goals. 
  • Ensures designs are functional and aligned with best practices and brand standards. 
  • Manages the review process on individual projects. Collaborates on development of timelines. Conducts daily work to ensure assignments are completed within deadline and budget constraints. 
  • Presents work to internal customers. 
  • Prepares files for production ensuring they are correct and error free.
  • Keeps project team and direct supervisor informed on progress.

Asset Management:

  • Catalogs and archives working and final design files. 
  • Catalogs photo and illustration files. 
  • Supports photoshoots and provides art direction as needed. 
  • Collaborates with Brand and Creative team to develop new brand assets as needed.

Brand Standards Support:

  • Understands and champions brand standards. 
  • Supports development, enhancement and maintenance of brand standards and other brand governance tools. 
  • Monitors brand application on individual projects to ensure consistency across all channels of communication. 
  • Provides best practice guidance and training to internal and external partners for effective visual design to raise the bar for the NMDP/Be The Match visual brand identity.

Other Accountabilities:

  • Participates in projects and cross-functional teams as assigned. 
  • Actively participates as a member of the Marketing & Communications team to ensure the achievement of overall goals and objectives. 
  • Pursues opportunities for ongoing learning. 
  • Maintains and enhances knowledge of communications best practices, communications channels, emerging trends and new tools and processes, and works to incorporate new ideas into communications strategies. 
  • Advocates an understanding of, and compliance to, defined processes; provides guidance and feedback on areas of continuous improvement. 
  • Adheres to NMDP/Be The Match confidentiality policies for patients, donors and proprietary NMDP/Be The Match information. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator). 
  • Versatile design skill set including layout, illustration and photo correction. 
  • Able to use style sheets and master pages. 
  • Excellent understanding of printing process, photography, illustration and typography. 
  • Basic understanding of digital design best practices (web, mobile, email, social). 
  • Basic understanding of digital/social media platforms of all types.

Ability to:

  • Demonstrate excellent visual communication skills with a customer-centric design ethos.
  • Manage the creative process, including multiple project details, from start to finish. Includes ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks within budget. 
  • Show impeccable attention to detail. 
  • Work with others, or independently. 
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to work cross-team and synthesize feedback, edits and input from others. 
  • Demonstrate strong time management skills and demonstrated ability to gracefully handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Remain current on emerging trends industry, innovation and technology. 
  • Show strong portfolio demonstrating breadth of visual design capabilities.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Art/Design/Advertising education preferred. 
  • 3-4 years of experience as a design professional.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Additional qualifications that may make a person even more effective in the role, but are not required for consideration).

  • Agency and/or nonprofit experience preferred. 
  • Experience with the following preferred: creating content to engage Millennial audiences, creating educational, health-focused content, creating accessible materials and materials for translation.
