Overview:

In this high-profile role, the individual will interface directly with clients and Motion staff to design and optimize client solutions. The VP, Account Director is focused on healthcare strategy, branding and account management. This leader must be a self-motivated team player who has excellent presentation and communication skills. This role also requires account management experience with healthcare clientele, and the ability to direct a diverse team of professionals to develop well-thought-out, strategically driven programs. The VP, Account Director is a strong mediator and negotiator, with experience in managing multiple teams and clients. He/she will be the lead point of contact for portfolio clients and will serve as the ultimate company representative when finalizing scopes of work.

Reporting: This position reports to EVP, Strategy.

Account Responsibilities/Expectations:

  • Serve as a senior leader across key accounts in healthcare; devise and execute tailored, insightful communications strategies that support defined objectives and KPIs for Motion existing and prospective clients 
  • Ability to present capabilities and campaigns to C-suite executives with poise and confidence 
  • Team management and leadership skills including guiding junior and mid-level personnel to grow into client leads 
  • Service existing clients, maintaining consistent revenue and client satisfaction while also growing each client’s business through incremental projects, expanded scopes of work and additional agency services 
  • Build, maintain and cultivate a healthy portfolio of satisfied clients by managing the account team to ensure that projects are on strategy, and that client needs are met on time and on budget 
  • Handle client challenges and issues independently to ensure the Motion team and client initiatives continue to move forward regardless of challenges 
  • Confident in acting as a contributor to a positive, innovative, collaborative, and cooperative work environment 
  • Motivate and lead cross-functional teams in delivering marketing programs from ideation to flawless execution 
  • Understand client’s business, industry, competitors, key drivers, environment, etc. by articulating client’s brand objectives and ensuring they are incorporated into recommendations 
  • Review and manage project budgets; estimate and establish cost parameters, campaigns, and lead forecasting 
  • Evaluate employee performance and review employee goals

New Business Role:

  • Identify new opportunities for organic growth and leading new business initiatives 
  • Develop and lead new business strategic planning and ideation sessions 
  • Work closely with other senior leaders in the firm to define the healthcare offering and build Motion’s client portfolio 
  • Identify, pursue and secure new clients, working closely with other agency leaders to develop new business proposals, present to prospective clients and lead other business development activities 
  • Ability to network and build relationships on behalf of the agency 
  • Develop thought leadership pieces related to the industry and showcase unique perspectives on industry trends

Agency/Internal Responsibilities:

  • Articulate, apply and champion agency vision and values 
  • Ongoing commitment to staying abreast of changing industry landscape 
  • Share knowledge, develop resources and present thoughtful ideas across the Account Service department, as well as the agency overall, to build staff understanding and foster team growth 
  • Recruit, manage and mentor staff to meet evolving client needs, with emphasis on directing development of junior staff through project assignments, client communication, management training, etc. 
  • Develop staffing plans and manage workload for junior and mid-level team members 
  • Identify and secure tools and resources that contribute to team success and maximize efficiency of operations 
  • Work with agency leadership to develop financial goals for healthcare and key clients for increased revenue and ideate on ways to generate additional revenue for the agency
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related healthcare/pharmaceutical-related field 
  • Agency experience is required; experience in healthcare is strongly encouraged 
  • 10+ years of successive career experience including director level and client facing roles 
  • Strategy and branding experience required 
  • Healthcare experience desired
