VP - Communications

The Vice President Communications is responsible for developing and executing Summit’s corporate communication strategy, building engagement with our brand and purpose among employees and our communities. This includes public relations, corporate and CEO social media, and internal communication vehicles and messaging. This role is also responsible for ensuring our messaging is appropriate for different audiences and platforms, tailoring the communication based on needs to maximize effectiveness. Newsworthy information and events cascade through various channels and audiences internally and externally as appropriate. Position overview includes:

1. Non-marketing related social media news such as congratulations, holidays, media links, special events.
2. Member communications that are press related.
3. Press contacts, press releases, follow ups.
4. Maintain data base of all press coverages.
5. Communication of internal projects, updates, staff meetings, CEO communications; leadership team communications, etc.

The Vice President of Communications provides guidance, strategy, and implementation for all corporate communications of the organization. This includes public relations, corporate social media platforms, as well as all employee-facing communication strategies and channels.

Job Specifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in communications; master’s degree preferred. 
2. Ten years of professional experience, ideally in an organization(s) with similarities to Summit Credit Union. 
3. Four years’ experience leading internal and external communications in a corporate or large organization setting. 
4. Seven years management experience. 
5. Outstanding presentation and written communication skills. 
6. Able to multi-task; outstanding organizational skills. 
7. Strong detail orientation. 
8. Absolute discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information. 
9. Ability to manage change, resolve conflicts and ensure collaboration within teams and across the organization. Able to lead and be a member of teams across Summit. 
10. Unquestionable ethics and integrity. 
11. Willingness to seek and accept feedback and change the original course of action when requested.
