Position Summary:

We are seeking a Managing Editor to manage the content creation efforts for our new website. The ideal candidate will possess a keen editorial eye, disciplined adherence to deadlines, leadership experience, and a deep understanding of digital content strategy. This role requires someone who can oversee the content creation team while ensuring our content is of the highest quality, aligns with our brand, and supports the overall vision of this project.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the production calendar, ensuring timely and quality content production in alignment with website best practices. 
  • Adherence to deadlines is a crucial measure of success with this project. 
  • Ensure key activities, including asset production, proofreading, legal review, and final stakeholder sign off are on track 
  • Work with brand to maintain content consistency in terms of style, tone, and voice in line with brand guidelines. 
  • Review and approve all content before presentation for stakeholder review and for publication to ensure accuracy, clarity, and quality. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including brand, design, and SEO, to optimize content for digital platforms. 
  • Implement a disciplined approach to project details including asset naming, content delivery, status reporting, and record keeping. 
  • Ensure user experience and content flow encourages path to purchase and supports lead conversion. 
  • Adherence to the project's scope and budget with internal and external PMO teams.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of editorial experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. 
  • Proven track record of managing copywriter and art director teams. 
  • Strong proficiency in content management systems (CMS) and SEO best practices. 
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback. 
  • Knowledge of digital content trends and best practices. 
  • Ability to juggle multiple workstreams and meet tight deadlines. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills—both verbal and written—with the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams. 
  • Experience in launching or significantly growing a digital publication or website. 
  • Familiarity with multimedia content creation, including video, podcasts, and interactive content. 
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools and platforms to assess content performance.
