Web Coordinator
Southeast Wisconsin
Milwaukee, WI

The Web Coordinator will work with the management of the Shepherd Express and other members of the web team to develop a strategic plan and vision for www.ShepherdExpress.com. The Web Coordinator will work with management and the digital team to help devise and implement marketing plans, including but not limited to social marketing and raising the site’s profile, and will work to keep the site technologically up-to-date. The Web Coordinator would be trained to manage the social networking of special events, work with our newsletters and with the Sales Director to increase revenue, identify prospects for new revenue sources, and work with sales reps on managing ad placement.

  • Writing and contributing content to the daily website 
  • In collaboration with the Editors and Management - Digital Marketing, maintain an overall web strategy including design direction, content management, architecture and site standards. 
  • Upload and manage digital editorial content and photos. 
  • Maintain and promote a high standard of design, usability and accessibility for web content.
  • Serve as a user experience evangelist and expert, developing a great user experience.
  • Conceptualize new and innovative ways to leverage existing and emerging technologies such as Facebook and Instagram. 
  • Develop strategies to maximize site visibility and exposure through search engine optimization and content dissemination. 
  • Monitor and analyze web analytics and traffic patterns to ensure that web content and web applications are effective in supporting institutional priorities. 
  • Administer the back-end functionality ensuring the platform, plugins and related technologies are leveraged effectively and properly maintained. 
  • Work with our internal design staff to create and upload engaging landing pages to promote our events 
  • Manage, upload and track digitally supplied web ads and digital content. 
  • Consult and collaborate with executive staff on best practices and related to website management and architecture. 
  • Research and advise on latest technologies. Pilot new technologies as appropriate.
  • This position is flexible to accommodate various skill sets.
  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis or certifications in mass communications, journalism, information technology or related field. 
  • Four or more years of experience managing digital website content, social media and technical development of front-end user interfaces. 
  • Experience with web development and delivery of web content. 
  • Familiarity with user experience tools and the role they play in designing effective digital experiences. 
  • Advanced computer skills, including experience with: Adobe Creative Suite; MS Office; developing standards-compliant HTML and CSS, JavaScript, PHP and MySQL; responsive web design techniques; WordPress content management system; web design and development tools; emerging Internet technologies. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop custom front-end and back-end web solutions and solid organizational skills.
