Reporting to the director of digital marketing, the Web Designer will support UW Oshkosh digital marketing and communications by designing, building, and improving University websites. They will work with departments across the University to ensure that web content effectively contributes to marketing and communications goals.

45% Web content creation

  • Design and build websites and pages that contribute to UW Oshkosh marketing and communications goals 
  • Meet with University faculty and staff to manage web projects and identify opportunities for improving web content 
  • Update web content to comply with accessibility requirements, brand standards, and best practices in web design

25% Web content management

  • Use available tools to evaluate web content for accessibility, web performance, search engine optimization, and brand compliance 
  • Implement changes to web content and structure based on measurements, best practices, and market research 
  • Train University faculty and staff in web content editing and best practices in web design

25% Digital strategy management

  • Manage Google Analytics properties to accurately report on web traffic and the success of digital marketing campaigns 
  • Perform internal and external research to identify opportunities for improving digital marketing and communications strategy

5% Other duties as assigned

Required:

  • Demonstrated proficiency using WordPress or another web content management system.
  • Strong skills in web design including content layout, site organization, visual design, institutional branding, and/or user experience.
  • Strong communication skills that are clear, effective, and sensitive, whether in person or in writing.
  • Familiarity with web analytics measurement and reporting using Google Analytics or a comparable tool.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Preferred:

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and other front-end web programming languages.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of image editing software.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • 12-month, annual, fixed-term renewable
