For over 45 years WHEDA has worked to improve the quality of life for Wisconsin residents by providing financing for housing and small business development. WHEDA’s Marketing and Communications Group is seeking a highly motivated, customer-focused Web Designer. In this position, you will have the opportunity to design and maintain WHEDA’s corporate website, mobile site, and intranet site. We are looking for someone with innovation and passion that supports our vision to help people and communities realize their hopes and dreams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Originates and edits web content related to business information and communications; maintains site map and file directory structure; coordinates updates and changes;

  • Recommends hardware, software, functionality, content, design, and technical upgrades and improvements for the website by keeping abreast of technology trends and best industry practices;

  • Guides the visual development for the website with the creation of graphics, banners, and other treatments that enhance WHEDA’s brand and end user experience;

  • Monitors and assesses website attractiveness, usability, and design; drafts and implements design changes that maximize opportunities for user interest and access;

  • Provides recommendations for the organization's web strategy to include but not limited to search engine optimization, search engine marketing, digital display, and online reputation management as well as measures and analyses results;

  • Manages the execution and delivery of web related content functions, including the implementation of content in alignment with WHEDA’s social media strategy;

  • Leads and participates on project teams to help business groups understand their web needs; analyzes, designs, and assists in developing appropriate solutions;

  • Implements business direction, content, messages, and delivery structures;
  • Develops and ensures adherence to standards and procedures for the proper and efficient use of website technology;

  • Troubleshoots website problems, system errors and problems, and usability issues; 

  • Understands, develops, modifies, and enforces styles, brand standards, and maintenance processes and procedures that assure professional quality presentation, continuity, and editorial integrity;

  • Maintains confidentiality as it pertains to customer information and any other information obtained in your role as a WHEDA employee.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Candidate will have an Associate’s Degree in Web Design or a related field and 3 years of experience in content development and delivery and copy writing/creative writing or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Knowledge required for this position includes:

  • Business, marketing and communication principles; 
  • Website development and improvement methods, principles, and practices; 
  • Content Management System (CMS) expertise and applied knowledge; 
  • Microsoft technologies and front-end web technologies; 
  • Adobe Creative Suite including Dreamweaver, InDesign, Fireworks, Photoshop and Illustrator; 
  • Media/web optimization principles; Internet, intranet, extranet and client/service architectures; 
  • Application programming, database and system design. 

Skills required for this position include:

  • Providing customer service; 
  • Identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems; 
  • Managing projects; 
  • Establishing and following procedural and technical standards; 
  • Prioritizing tasks; 
  • Projecting future needs; 
  • Creating graphics and web layouts;
