Saturn Lounge, a full-service branding, video, photography, and marketing agency, is looking for a talented web developer to join our team in Waukesha, Wisconsin. A good candidate will have a keen eye for design and user experience but be focused on aligning the two with strong programming skills to bring design to life. You have a positive, “can do” attitude, and handling multiple projects and tight deadlines are all in a days work. You take direction well and strive to improve every step of the way.

We are seeking a web developer responsible for all things web, mostly creating and customizing WordPress themes and plugins. This position requires a combination of programming skills (namely PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript) and attention to aesthetics (color, font, layout, and everything in between). The candidate should have a strong understanding of industry trends and content management systems. Experience with the responsive and adaptive design is strongly preferred. Also, an understanding of the entire web development process, including design, development, and deployment is preferred.

Highly valuable in this position is the ability to adapt and work creatively to find solutions to challenges. A knack for taking an idea and figuring out how to implement it (even making it better) is a key to success.

  • Designing and implementing new features and functionality
  • Estabilishing and guiding the website architecture
  • Ensuring high-performance and managing all technical aspects of the CMS
  • Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme and plugin, ensuring designs follow web best practices
  • Occasional programming of HTML e-mails for use in variety of e-mail marketing platforms
  • Guiding projects from kick-off to final launch, server administration not necessary but experience working with hosting providers is
  • Developing training guides for clients to use post-launch
  • Good understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
  • Wealth of experience with WordPress
  • Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
  • Experience designing and developing responsive design websites
  • Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
  • Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers
  • Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
  • Ability to code e-mails from design into HTML for use in e-mail marketing platforms
  • Foundational SEO understanding
  • Understanding of SSL implementation
  • Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML) (Strongly Preferred)
  • Strong understanding of PHP back-end development (Strongly Preferred)
