Develops and implements web content strategies for the enhancement of the University’s brand identity and engagement with key constituencies, particularly student recruitment, donor development and the academic division. Manages Elmhurst University’s public website on a daily basis.

Essential Functions:

  • Works with OMC department members, internal stakeholders and external partners to enhance the website’s design and functionality for end users. 
  • Contributes to ongoing enhancement of the website’s design and information architecture. 
  • Ensures web content—editorial, photos and multimedia—meets the University’s brand standards and style, and works to ensure that site content is current and accurate. 
  • Collaborates with content creators for the institutional website and other digital content (ex. blogs, newsletters, digital advertising campaigns, email marketing) and utilizes Search Engine Optimization best practices. 
  • Manages the content management system (CMS), including monitoring the platform, server and related updates, and providing CMS training for faculty and staff that includes guidance in best practices for developing content, usability and accessibility. 
  • Manages external support provider relationship, which includes identifying strategic site improvements, assessing new technology or software, and troubleshooting issues. 
  • Generates reports and analyzes web traffic. 
  • Monitors trends in the industry. 
  • Oversees process for regular review of web content across departments and units. 
  • Supports the overall objectives of the Office of Marketing and Communications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications or other relevant major. 
  • Experience administering a CMS (currently WordPress) and familiarity with HTM Land web technologies. 
  • At least five years of relevant experience, preferably in a higher education environment. 
  • Experience with measurement and assessment tools, such as Google Analytics. 
  • Excellent multitasking, project management and interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with a commitment to high standards. 
  • A passion for user experience design, social media and emerging technologies. 
  • Ability to work both independently and as a contributing member of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of web languages (HTML5, CSS, PHP, etc.) and W3C standards. 
  • Search Engine Optimization competency, including use of software for keyword research.
  • Adobe Creative Cloud experience.
