The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA)*, the private fundraising and alumni relations organization for UW-Madison, is recruiting for a Writer / Copyeditor to join the Communications team. This position will help proofread and copyedit WFAA materials and will manage submissions to and write material for the Class Notes section of On Wisconsin magazine.

Proofreading:

  • Copyedit and proofread WFAA publications and print and digital marketing materials. 
  • Edit projects of various lengths for development and stewardship staff. 
  • Experience with Chicago Manual of Style. 
  • Collaborate with teams in the creative endeavor. 

Class Notes:

  • Receive news and notes from alumni and other groups; manage information received; correspond with submitters in a timely fashion. 
  • Write, fact-check, and prepare On Wisconsin magazine’s Class Notes and Diversions sections for publication.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in English, Journalism, or a similar field. 
  • 1+ writing/copyeditor related experience. 
  • Experience creating content about diverse constituencies. 

 

Other Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, InDesign, and Acrobat. 
  • Strong sense of initiative and understanding of marketing and journalistic concepts.
