Founded in 1892, the Wisconsin Bankers Association is the state’s largest financial industry trade association, representing more than 200 commercial banks and savings institutions and over 21,000 employees. The Association represents banks of all sizes from banks in rural Wisconsin to the state's largest financial institution in Green Bay, and nearly 98 percent of banks in the state are WBA members. WBA has three subsidiaries and a public charity which offer cost-effective and quality products for banks.

Wisconsin Bankers Association (WBA) is looking for the right person to serve as the primary writer and editor of all Wisconsin Bankers Association’s publications, including electronic publications. In addition, this person would work with the Wisconsin Bankers Foundation (WBF) to run the Reading Raises Interest Kit and Financial Literacy Awards programs.

Essential Duties:

  • Producing and editing all publications for WBA and coordinating package advertising and creating articles for targeted electronic publications
  • Ghostwriting select articles and publications for WBA members and staff
  • Proofing/editing marketing materials
  • Coordinating and promoting projects for WBF with the Executive Director
  • Assisting in creating/editing material for website, social media content, and classified ads
  • Taking photos at association events
  • Assisting as backup for media calls
  • Taking minutes at WBF and advisory committee meetings

Requirements:

  • Ability to research and learn about a wide range of topics
  • Strong writing, interviewing, proofing, and editing skills
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience working with content management systems, such as WordPress
  • Knowledge of AP Style
  • Skill with Microsoft Office Products
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English, or related field or 3 years writing experience

In addition, the ideal candidate would have the following attributes:

  • Holds 1–2 years of freelance, corporate, or agency writing experience
  • Curious about how business gets done in Wisconsin
  • Comfortable with deadlines
  • Enjoys a professional office atmosphere
  • Reads the news daily and follows current events
  • Has a healthy understanding of government and politics
  • Is passionate about the Oxford comma
  • Wants to give back to their community and help empower students to achieve their goals

Salary range is $44,000-$50,000 depending upon experience.  Date of hire benefits available.
