The Writer, Internal Communications role is an important member of the Brunswick Corporation – Corporate Communications function, reporting directly through our Enterprise Internal Communications team and helping to enhance employee engagement and communicate corporate strategy across the organization. The person hired for this role must be an exceptional writer with the ability to meet demanding deadlines and demonstrate an ability to plan and execute materials ranging from communication plans, enterprise-wide emails, leadership presentations, newsletter content and intranet articles. Experience as an editor and corporate writer is a plus. This candidate should have a strong knowledge of topics that are relevant in today’s corporate world and have a deep understanding of the technology needed to excel in this position. In addition, the person must have experience working with company executives and stakeholders. This team member will have a proven track record of editing and publishing well-crafted, easy-to-read work, particularly in time-sensitive environments with multiple contributors.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Researching, writing, and editing communication materials for a variety of channels and audiences, including employee newsletters, enterprise-wide emails, intranet articles and leadership event presentations 
  • Acting as a strategic partner with key stakeholders across the Company to develop high-quality, informative and effective communication plans 
  • Supporting communications through delivery of integrated campaigns, writing and editing 
  • Managing the build and distribution of communications through email platform 
  • Supporting day-to-day content development and posting for Company’s intranet 
  • Writing website content, emails, and other communication pieces 
  • Driving strategy and execution of ESG communications 
  • Partnering with marketing and graphic design team to develop digital content for intranet, emails and digital signage 
  • Supporting quarterly global town hall presentation development and event management Reviewing and editing documents produced by department colleagues for writing style and 
  • accuracy Writing news releases and external pieces as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field, or equivalent experience in corporate communications, public relations, media writing or journalism 
  • 5 years of experience in related communication role 
  • Strong written and communication skills 
  • Strong proofreading and editing skills 
  • Working knowledge of AP style 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Ability to work with senior leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Newsroom, journalism, or corporate communications experience 
  • Experience as corporate writer and/or editor 
  • Experience building newsletters and working with email distribution platforms 
  • Familiarity with SharePoint or similar intranet platforms

Remote/Hybrid Reports out of Mettawa, Illinois headquarters; open to hybrid or 100% remote
