The Assistant Director will play a key role in the internationally recognized and award-winning Marquette Mentors Program, to ensure a productive and valuable professional development experience in partnership with more than 300 Marquette student mentees, alumni mentors, campus partners and University Advancement colleagues.

Established in 2013, Marquette Mentors is a high-touch 1:1 student mentee – alumni mentor initiative providing support, leadership and guidance to support program participants in achieving their established goals. The program also serves more than 1,000 student mentees and alumni mentors in approximately 25 states and Europe through ongoing engagement initiatives.

This position has the opportunity to work in a hybrid work arrangement, with time worked on campus as well as remotely.  

  1. Collaborate and work closely with alumni mentors, campus partners and University Advancement staff in support of Marquette Mentors to help ensure goals are attained through a high-touch, 1:1 mentor-mentee partnership and international award-winning program that’s also been recognized as the gold standard for mentoring initiatives
  2. Provide support in preparation for development, preparation, launch, implementation and long-range planning of Marquette Mentors, including significant communication and marketing efforts with more than 300 annual participants
  3. Assist with mentor program communication and marketing initiatives ranging from alumni and mentee collateral materials, resource handbook, event planning, research, online support and potential social media platforms to best serve participants
  4. Assist with online platform initiatives related to Marquette Mentors and career development through the Marquette Career Network, the program’s online resource
  5. Ongoing communication and cultivation with approximately 900 previous mentees to remain engaged in the program, including through marketing, events and volunteer initiatives
  6. Maintain database of more than 1,000 mentors and mentee alumni related to career and professional development updates
  7. Identification of additional resources to better serve program participants, such as video content and best practices
  8. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.
  • A Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, special events education, non-profit or related field is required, along with three years of experience. 
  • Strong writing and organizational skills, particularly in marketing and communication is also needed. 
  • Experience with social media platforms, such as LinkedIn 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Graphic design and Adobe software experience, including Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Rush is required.  
  • A motivated self-starter and creative thinker, along with proven success developing, leading and implementing initiatives involving large populations is ideal.  
  • Previous leadership and advising experience and the ability to manage multiple duties concurrently to support program goals is also needed, along with the ability to work effectively with diverse student population, faculty/staff and community members.  
  • An interest in student-alumni professional development is core to the position.
