JOB PURPOSE:

To lead and manage a centralized global communications function responsible for communications (internal and external), public relations, press relations and corporate events. The role provides strategic collaborative communications leadership, planning and execution management across functional areas, divisions and regions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Create a best-in-class internal and external global communications infrastructure including strategies, structure, key messages, branding identity, and communications standards and policies for targeted audiences. 
  • Develop, manage and ensure the successful delivery of a variety of high-profile internal and external and executive communications programs to include CEO communications, the Village intranet, the Graco internet and multimedia tools. 
  • Provide oversight for the development, implementation and management of global internal and executive communications initiatives that enhance and promote the company brand so that employees are fully informed, engaged and aligned with business goals and strategies. 
  • Manage and reinforce the organization’s corporate global brands and reputation through consistent messaging. 
  • Provide leadership for the Branding Board to ensure execution against the Branding Board charter. 
  • Enhance visibility and leadership image of internal clients, the CEO and other executives with their target audiences via strategic use of print, online, audio and video, including the production of CEO global messages. 
  • Develop and execute an integrated public relations program comprising media relations and case histories. 
  • Work with divisional and regional marketing communications leads to create a virtual communications organization that ensures alignment and effective collaboration across divisions and regions and a consistency of messaging across the organization. 
  • Stay abreast of industry research and trends in the area of social media and marketing to provide advice and expertise to Graco’s leadership. 
  • Lead project planning, resource allocation and execution of deliverables for programs to support company communications strategy. 
  • Manage projects concurrently, identifying and elevating resource constraints, roadblocks and deliverables and developing recommendations to supplement the team with other internal and external resources. 
  • Mentor team members and manage performance, coaching and overall project planning. 
  • Develop standards and processes to increase efficiency of the team and leaders.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education

  • B.A. degree in communications, public relations or related field. Graduate degree preferred.

Experience

  • 8+ years’ progressive experience in communications 
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing strategies to manage sensitive, complex issues with internal and external stakeholders

Skills/Abilities/Competencies

  • Senior leader and project manager experience with a proven track record of delivering superior communications programs, initiatives and results 
  • Proven success in working collaboratively with multifunctional teams on multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Outstanding communication skills (oral, written, presentation, meeting design formats) to set the gold standard for internal communications 
  • An extremely high level of energy, sense of urgency and decisiveness, along with sound problem-solving and negotiating skills
