This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned digital content specialist who has built a career out of exploring and implementing a variety of creative and effective digital methods to grow an organization’s online presence and engagement. Be a part of building a marketing / communications team made up of smart, skilled, tenacious, resourceful and thoughtful professionals interested in design, architecture and its impact on our world. In the coming months we will be launching a branding initiative that will result in a significant update of communication tools and collateral—including our website. We are looking for someone excited about the possibilities ahead, the opportunity to get in on the ground floor to advance our digital efforts, and lead the digital way on a small but smart team.

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for developing and executing digital communication strategies that support HGA’s brand and its business goals through building an online presence. The digital communications manager is a digital content subject matter expert, leveraging digital assets across channels for integrated marketing/communications. Collaboration with internal teams, and building and sustaining internal relationships, are both key elements to the success of this position. This position reports to the Director of Communications who reports to the Chief Executive Officer, works work closely with the Director of Marketing, and interacts with leadership, project staff (designers, architects, engineers), human resources, department staff, and marketing staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General

  • Advances, manages and implements HGA’s digital content strategy for social media, web, email communication and yet-to-be-discovered platforms. 
  • Serves as primary contact with internal experts and develop and implement new content/campaigns/updates around their ideas, projects and activities. 
  • Produces a variety of creative assets—copy, photography, video, graphic design—for digital distribution, independently or with the support of other staff and/or agency partners.
  • Ensures current and consistent messaging across all HGA digital platforms. Manages digital content portion of HGA’s content calendar. 
  • Stays updated on new online technologies, best practices, and industry trends to identify innovative strategies and solutions; test and evaluate new tools and ideas. 
  • Provides support on other projects as requested 

Social Media

  • Defines, proposes and leads strategies for social media channels including usage guidelines, message mix, scheduling/volume and the role of each channel in overall marketing strategies. 
  • Assures brand presence, communication, integration and day-to-day activity across all social channels. 
  • Leads integration of social channels with HGA website and other marketing tools. 
  • Proposes and implements social strategies to drive increased engagement. 
  • Provides coordination and contributes to content development for implementation of social media and search marketing tactics. 
  • Serves as organization’s resource on social media and Web tools and best practices.
  • Manages search engine optimization, working with content and technology on implementation and monitoring performance of search engine rankings and traffic. 

Website

  • Develops and manages website content, keeping information accurate, timely, and relevant with the assistance of project or communications staff. 
  • Guided by staff, analytics and best practices, works with vendors to maintain effectiveness and create a positive user experience for HGA website. 
  • Serves as a key team member in the development and implementation of a new website for the firm in 2017. 

Tracking and Measurement

  • Monitors online presence and daily/weekly activity in order to respond and build momentum. 
  • Incorporates and integrates analytical tools 
  • Collects, analyzes and presents data to measure effectiveness of current initiatives, and provides rationale to develop new ones. 
  • Monitors and responds to posts in all key social channels. 
  • Reviews, analyzes and provides actionable reporting on key metrics across all social channels. 

QUALITIES:

  • Demonstrated understanding of digital communications and their impact on the business development/marketing cycle. 
  • Technical knowledge of web and digital communications tools. Ability to connect brand and strategy with the right tool at the right time. 
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, specifically for interactive content, and search engine optimization. 
  • Analytical skills for tracking/interpreting web and social media analytics. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage/lead multiple projects, schedules and cross-functional teams. 
  • Detail and results oriented, with excellent problem-solving skills. 
  • Self-starter

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business/marketing, communication or related field, or 
  • On evaluation, three years of direct experience in project management/editorial oversight of multichannel communications, digital content management, web development, communications or related field, 
  • In addition, three to five years of experience in digital communications management and implementation 
  • Experience developing and managing tracking systems for Web, e-communications, and social media is required 
  • Experience with Web content management systems; Drupal or WordPress preferred
  • Experience with Google Analytics Expertise in current Internet marketing standards, including Web browsers and browser specifications, UX, SEO, SEM 
  • Working knowledge of current Web and scripting languages, such as HTML5, CSS3, PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, etc., preferred
