Working Environment:

Work is performed in a pleasant, professional, creative, open office environment, with business casual attire. Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours and will average 2,300 hours per year. Great flexibility in your schedule is both required of you and returned to you due to our many project deadlines. Occasional travel is expected to service clients.

Kahler Slater, a national interdisciplinary design firm, seeks an Environmental Brand Designer to join our growing and award-winning Environmental Branding team. 

This Environmental Graphic Designer will work closely with team designers on EGD, branding, and signage projects across the country with premier brands. This individual must be an excellent designer, collaborator and communicator.

Our Environmental Branding team is based in Milwaukee, WI, and it would be ideal for the new Brand Designer to join us there. Alternatively, given that Kahler Slater also has offices in Madison, WI and Chicago, IL, we are open to the Brand Designer being located anywhere within the combined regional area.

  • BA or BS degree in graphic design or related discipline 
  • 3-5 years of experience in environmental branding, brand identity, signage design, wayfinding programming, design intent documentation and creation of final production-ready artwork 
  • Solid understanding of working in a built environment; able to comprehend architectural scales, sections, plans and elevations 
  • Efficient and effective at Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, CADtools (SketchUp or other 3D software, would be considered a plus) 
  • Experience creating signage location plans and message schedules 
  • Effectively visualize ideas in two and three dimensions 
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills 
  • Accepts direction well and is a good collaborator 
  • Professional and personable demeanor 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Motivated to grow and shows initiative 
  • Ability to successfully and professionally interact directly with clients 
  • Ability to juggle multiple competing priorities within tight deadlines
