This newly created position is responsible for the overall management and administration of Fund Development activities for the Guest House of Milwaukee including brand awareness, fund raising, marketing and public relations. This position works collaboratively and creatively with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to set and carry out fund development goals for the agency. Specific activities include event planning, grant writing and donor cultivation with an emphasis on corporate connections. This position works in a team environment with other Fund Development and other agency staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet budgeted fundraising financial goals established in agency current year budget and annual fund development plan. 
  • Develop and implement a written plan for identifying, qualifying and soliciting donors to increase and strengthen relationships and networks with businesses and corporations. 
  • Create and maintain strategic ongoing communications with key private and corporate donors ensuring they are immediately and appropriately thanked for their gifts. 
  • Develop strategies for existing donors to both increase their giving and effectively move them through a meaningful cycle of giving. 
  • Cultivate corporate/community partners to bring about further brand awareness and increase donor base. 
  • Write grants and follow up reports to private foundations and corporations as well as solicit for new funding opportunities. 
  • Oversee all donor recognition activities, fundraising/cultivation events and projects as well as communication strategies that support fund development efforts and enhance the Guest House brand. 
  • Plan and carry out main fundraising events that include a golf outing and wine tasting event; exploring the possibility of other more strategic events. 
  • Work with Manager of Volunteers to provide oversight to recruit/retain a diverse team of volunteers and interns ensuring they receive prompt placement and follow up communication. 
  • Oversees the management of donor database including set up and running of reports. 
  • Work with Social Media Marketing Manager to build brand awareness and ensure brand communication throughout the agency’s website and through all social media and marketing efforts. 
  • Actively participates in the Guest House management team. 
  • Review and update all departmental policies and procedures on an annual basis. 
  • Coordinate and facilitate regular Fund Development team meetings including some work with board members. 
  • Recruit, hire, train and manage fund development staff according to agency policies. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

  • Maintain a valid Wisconsin driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation in compliance with agency requirements.

Training and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree or Masters degree in Communications, Marketing, Management or a related field and 3-5 years of demonstrated success in fund development and brand management. 
  • Proficient computer skills working with software including Microsoft Word, Excel and donor software such as Abila. 
  • Demonstrated budget and project management skills and an ability to motivate and lead others including staff and all levels of volunteers.
